Is the Loki series over?

Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest TV series, Loki, aired the final episode of its first season on the 14th of July. The episode — For All Time. Always. — was not only a masterpiece in terms of visuals, but it also set up MCU’s Phase Four in the grandest possible manner. The chemistry between Loki and Sylvie caught everyone’s eye, of course, and we cannot wait to see more.

If you’re one of the millions of Loki fans who are waiting eagerly for a return of the God of Mischief, today’s piece should offer some respite. Now, without further ado, let’s check out whether Loki would return for another season or will the cast appear in another Marvel series/movie.

Is the Loki series over?

When Marvel announced the arrival of new MCU-based shows in the Disney Plus network, no one knew what to expect. Looking at the lineup, it was evident that the TV shows were going to be based on side characters — who haven’t had the chance to be on the big screen yet. These were supposed to be one-off adventures, to give them context and push them along for Phase Four.

WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier followed suit, as neither has been renewed for a second season yet. Loki, on the other hand, is set to be an exception, as the show is already confirmed to get a second season, which would allow us to witness Loki’s continued misadventures.

And no, we are not speculating here. At the end of the last episode of Loki Season 1, the post-credit snippet confirmed that Thor’s brother would indeed return for a second season.

As per rumors, Loki was originally meant to be a 12-episode one-off series. The COVID-19 pandemic spoiled Marvel’s great plans and forced them to break the series into two parts. Part 1 — Season 1 — concluded on the 14th of July.

When will Loki episode 7 release?

As we’ve mentioned in the introduction above, Loki capped off his first season on the 14th of July. It aired its sixth episode — For All Time. Always. — on that day, which made many fans look for episode 7 right away. Unfortunately, the first season of Loki ended with the sixth episode itself, meaning episode 7 will not be airing as usual. The seventh episode is set to be the first episode of Season 2 and would likely be aired as the first episode of the new season.

Loki Season 2 release date

As per the post-credit scene after the final Loki episode of the season, the God of Mischief would indeed return for a second season. However, nothing more is known at this point. If speculations are to be believed, Loki was initially set to be a 12-episode show, which could mean the writers already have the six episodes of the upcoming season in the pipeline. In that respect, we might not have to wait for too long to get the next season of Loki.

Since the last episode of Loki unleashes the multiverse, we could see the new season of Loki after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness goes to theatres in March 2022. Also, since Ant-Man’s upcoming movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania would probably be dealing with a version of Kang the Conqueror, Loki Season 2 might drop before the movie premieres in the February of 2023.

All things considered, the new season of Loki could premiere in the second or third quarter of 2022.

What would be the plot of Loki season 2?

Although we are not sure how MCU would adjust the timeline after the events of the TV shows, we are pretty certain that the battle would be fought against the infamous Marvel villain Kang the Conqueror. At the end of Season 1, Sylvie kills He Who Remains to unleash the multiverse, which, as expected has some dire consequences.

Loki, who finds himself back at the TVA as a result of Sylvie’s cunning, goes out looking for his friend, Mobius, hoping to warn him and the agency about the upcoming multiversal war. Unfortunately, neither Mobius nor Hunter B-15 recognizes him. Furthermore, Loki finds a big statue of Kang the Conqueror at the TVA, exactly where the statue of the three Time-Keepers stood.

The next season of Loki is set to explore the changes Sylvie’s revenge has caused, and, hopefully, give us a sense of clarity about Marvel’s next big bad, Kang the Conqueror.
