Will Loki turn bad in Season 2?

Since being introduced in Thor back in 2011, Loki has been one of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most adored villains. During the first season of the Loki show on Disney+, we got to see how much the character developed after being confronted with harsh reality.

Thanks to the shocking turn of events in the Season 1 finale, Loki will be subjected to many tough decisions in the upcoming season. Will he continue his journey towards redemption or will he fall back to familiar patterns? Today, we’ll try to figure that out.

Will Loki become a bad guy again?

The God of Mischief has many traits. Unfortunately for us, predictability isn’t one of them. Since 2011, we have seen Loki do a lot of mischiefs, stab a lot of people in the back, and even stand fearlessly against Marvel’s biggest baddie yet, Thanos.

Over the course of Loki, the brother of Thor had all the time in the world to introspect, to see the errors of his ways. He made peace with himself, learned to see the good in people. He eventually fell for Sylvie — a Variant of Loki — which completed the developmental arc for him, showing that even Loki is capable of putting others before him.

The final episode saw him being betrayed by Sylvie, who decided to kill Kang the Conqueror and dismantle the Sacred Timeline.

Loki is currently determined to restore the balance of the universe and bring back the Sacred Timeline. So, it’s safe to say that this instance of Loki — the one that was betrayed by Sylvie — won’t become a bad guy again, without a very good cause at least.

However, since the multiverse is officially confirmed in the MCU, we might see other versions of Loki — from other universes — who are not that kind. We might see Lokis who are doing everything in their power to bring tragedy and destruction — just like the good old days.

So, don’t be alarmed if you see a mean Loki in the multiverse. The one we’ve grown to love over the course of the season isn’t turning heel anytime soon.
