WandaVision: Is Wanda now more powerful than Doctor Strange?

It’s no secret that Doctor Strange is one of the most powerful Avengers. But with Wanda’s Chaos Magic, she can surely give the Sorcerer Supreme a run for his money, should they ever go against each other at any stage. How do we know this? WandaVision‘s series finale blatantly tells us how powerful Wanda truly is now that she’s in her full-blown comic book avatar as the Scarlet Witch. But can she really trump the Sorcerer Supreme if such a situation should ever arise? Here’s everything you need to know.

Warning: WandaVision series finale Spoilers ahead!

Agatha reveals how powerful Wanda truly is

It doesn’t matter how you come at it, Wanda is one of the strongest characters in the MCU. That is just a fact that’s been touted multiple times during the course of WandaVision itself. Now that Wanda has unlocked the mythical being that she was destined to become, it’s even more likely that she may actually be the strongest Avenger there is.

During her fight against the Scarlet Witch, Agatha Harkness tells her that she is much stronger than even the Sorcerer Supreme himself, a statement that’s taken many of us by surprise.

Sifting through the Darkhold, Agatha explains that whoever has the Scarlet Witch title is bound to be one of the strongest beings in their reality, perhaps even be the Nexus being. There’s not much to go on the Nexus being angle yet, since Agatha doesn’t explicitly mention anything about it. But what she does reveal from her study of the Darkhold, and her age-old knowledge of witchcraft, it is clear that Wanda has taken her powers to the next level.

On top of that, in the post-credit scene, we also see Wanda astral projecting and learning from the “book of the damned” to up her game further. Only time and future MCU projects will tell exactly what new tricks she’s learning from the Darkhold, and how well she is able to control her powers.

Wanda vs. Doctor Strange

Agatha revealing that the Scarlet Witch is much more powerful than Doctor Strange was bound to get the fans excited about what such a possibility could entail. We’ve already seen in Avengers: Endgame that given the chance, she could hold her own even against the likes of Thanos when the latter was forced to give the ‘Rain Fire’ command that saved him at the last minute.

But now that the worst form of magic – Chaos Magic – is under her command, Agatha explains that she has turned into someone whose destiny it is to “destroy the world”.

Wanda can astral project and multi-task in her physical form at the same time, just like Doctor Strange did while he was speedreading his way through his education in his own time. Even though Doctor Strange has got a few years on her, Wanda is the mythical Scarlet Witch touched by the Mind Stone – and that counts a great deal, especially when it involves performing a rare form of magic that was considered mythical even by the Sorcerer Supreme himself.

What does it mean for Doctor Strange?

We’re all expecting Wanda to be an ally to Doctor Strange in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Though it’s still early days to tell which demented dark monstrosity Doctor Strange would be going up against in 2022, we know that there’s going to be a ton of magic involved. And from WandaVision onwards, we can be sure that where there is magic, the Scarlet Witch cannot be too far. Doctor Strange may be needing her help in the future, especially so since we know that Wanda is confirmed to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Even though she’s been branded as the “destroyer of the world” Wanda would be hell-bent on proving Agatha wrong, asserting her own will, and being who she wants to be. As long as she’s on the good side, Doctor Strange would be delighted to have her. For, we’re not exactly sure how well he would be able to handle the mythical Scarlet Witch now unleashed upon the world with her new-found control over her Chaos Magic. Even if he’s not a match for her, the Doctor could very well impart a few words of wisdom to the witch who, more than anything else, would require a broader sagacious perspective on her grief and her past torment.
